I used a speed reading technique of flicking my eyes from the first word of the line to the last word. It's amazing what your brain gets of the words in between without "resting" on them. I have to say I have not kept this habit up, much to my loss, but your article is an inspiration to try again. Although I have quite a backlog of books I'd like to read, I also want to take my time and enjoy what I am reading.
