Fallen and Flawed Takes Month-Long Sabbatical

Thursday, November 5th, 2009 | Blogging

Suicide.

That’s what some social media pundits might call a month-long break from blogging.

So be it.

I’m deeming November “Sabbatical Month.”

A time of refreshment. Reflection. Restoration.

[And reading, of course. Can't forget reading.]

Needed, indeed.

Especially after eleven months of near non-stop blogging and community building.

Not that I didn’t love it. Loved it a ton.

And learned a ton.

Deal is, many months back I promised myself that I’d take November off to fling myself into National Novel Writing Month.

However, after a string of introspective moments I’ve decided that while I am taking November off I won’t be joining the writing frenzy that is NaNoWriMo.

Instead I’ll throw myself into other cares…

Like blank verse. [That's right, poetry!]

And my editorial work-play where I mentor writers [read: push 'em around in the interest of readers].

Things I deeply adore to do.

I’ll also do some running. Long distance running.

And naturally relax with my wife and two children–people who mean more to me than anything else on this earth.

I’ll miss blogging, no doubt about it. More importantly, I’ll miss you.

But it will be a good month where I’ll remember you in my thoughts and prayers during our time of separation.

Yes, this is goodbye for now. But not forever. So, stiff upper lip, you hear?

And see you on the other side of December 5.

Wait. Was I supposed to comment on this? Don’t read the comment. Sorry man. I ….dang it…fail. You will get this in your email and this will ruin the sabbatical. DONT READ THESE COMMENTS! If only I could go back in time and stop myself from posting on your site…

Demian, will definitely miss your blogging through the next month, but it’s so helpful to get refreshed! I’m sure you’ll have lots of great things to write about as you come out of your blogbatical! Always appreciate your work for the Lord’s Kingdom friend!

God Bless!

Never commented before, but have been reading for about 4 months. I want you to know that I’ve enjoyed most or your posts and look forward to your return. Take a much needed break.

I’ll miss you this month and will be looking forward to seeing an unread post from Fallen and Flawed light up in my feed reader next month.

Enjoy your month off!

Demian, I’ll miss your posts (as everyone else here will too, I’m sure) but I think it would be wise for all of us to pull the plug on our virtual lives once in a while, and do more to serve the people we come in contact with every day. May you be blessed and refreshed, brother.

You are such a gutsy guy …but such a wise guy (in the good sense of wise!) for taking a break from blogging. ;)

Good for you for taking some time out from the blogosphere. Your blog is in my personal top 10, so I’ll certainly miss your thoughts, but my respect level for you increased a few notches with your decision to relax with the family and step away from the keyboard.

Not many guys in the blog world would have the guts to pull away for that long out of fear they might lose some readers but you see what’s really important. Good for you brother!

Enjoy your sabbatical Demian.

Unlike Don, above, I actually DID go back in time & prevent myself from commenting on this post. But then I decided it was fitting to let you know…

:)

P.S.– What Richard said!

Yes, I will miss your posts in my inbox, but I’ll enjoy seeing more of your smiling face not buried in your keyboard. Um, does relaxing with your wife include helping her decorate the homestead for Christmas??? Just wonderin’…. ;)

Demian,
Thought you were going to say you were doing the novel in November thing. I’ll miss your posts. Blessings, and may God give you significant refreshment, restore and fine tune vision…and sweet communion with Him and fam.
